According to National Geographic, an African lion weighs anywhere from 265 to 420 pounds. Its head and body measures anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 feet long, and the tail adds another 26.25 to 39.5 inches in length.
Lions need an average of 11 to 15 pounds of meat per day, but they do not need to eat every day. If a lion makes a large kill, it may eat up to 66 pounds of meat at once and then not eat for several days.
Lions have 30 adult teeth that are composed of 12 incisors, four canines, 10 premolars and four molars. The permanent teeth of a lion begin to break through the gums at 3 months of age and continue to develop until age 13 to 15 months.
