The cells containing only half of the genetic information characteristics of this species are found during reproduction. The nuclei of both these cells fuse, bringing together half the genetic information from the parents into one new cell, which is now genetically different from both its parents. gametes or sex cells...usually somatic cells (nonsex cells) contain chromosomes, or pairs of chromatids, which contain genetic information. non-fertalized sex cells contain only half of the genetic information because they don't have chromosomes from both parents yet
