Is it better to have your cartilage pierced with a gun, or a needle?

I've had people tell me both, but I'd like to know which is actually better for your health, and safety.

Health wise, a gun is much better because it is usually properly sterilized. You can't risk getting an infection by using a piercing gun. As for a needle, you will be risking since you are not sure whether it was sterilized or not.

Everytime I've been pierced with a needle it has been taken out of a sealed package. That's in Australia, don't know what it's like where you live.

I have had most of my piercings done with a needle, when I've had them done with a gun it hurt more & took longer to heal. That may not be the case for everyone but is for me. I much prefer a needle.
