I hear the word "cloud" being used as a computer term, what does that mean?

The cloud is simply another name for the internet. Most of us visit the cloud every day when we use e-mail like Hotmail, use Trade Me or log into Facebook. Now the cloud has expanded to include a whole new range of business services. Familiar business applications like Microsoft Outlook e-mail can now be accessed through the cloud, removing the need to have these applications installed on your computer.
