No. They have to keep moving. They may rest but they don't sleep.

That is because they don't ever close their eyes, but they do sleep.

Not sure if they go into deep sleeps, but they do take brief "rests". Most fish are prey, so they have to be on-guard constantly to avoid being eaten.

I know that dolphins rest 1/2 their brains at a time. Maybe fish are like that.

They do; they don't have eyelids which is why many people think they don't but they do; why people think that? Well, they think that any creature must have eyelids or something in order to sleep.

Eyelids keep the eyeball from drying out. Since fish live in water, this is not a problem for them. And it's usually dark at night for them, too, in the wild. (It's probably a good idea to turn off the tank light at night so they can fully rest.)

fish do sleep but if you watch them you’ll never see them close their eyes. fish don’t have closing eyelids. if your fish didn’t sleep, it wouldn’t have enough energy to swim. fish also swim while they’re sleeping so you’ll never know when they are. (they also breathe and wake up easily like most humans!)
