Do wasps build nests inside wood posts

can a wasp burrow into a wood post and build a nest

Report as

They most certainly do. The wasps most common in the states are social and build their nests from paper pulp of chewed up wood fibers.
The type of nest depends on the type of wasp. Most social wasps will build their nests in the corners of garages, carports, and the eaves of homes. The wasps will simply chew up the wood and other surrounding fibers and build their nests from the chewed up materials. These materials sometimes also include fibers from trampolines and plastic pools to give te the nests a unique look!
