If you run out of gas, and you have a fuel injected vehicle, how would you start it up again?

I ask this question because no one seemed to know the answer when someone asked a similar question. Would you need to do something OTHER THAN just merely putting gas in the tank?

you need to turn the key on,dont try to start the engine, just turn the key on for a few seconds and let the fuel pump run

Thats it? Thanks for your answer. I probably should write this down and put it in the glove box since I have a habit of cutting it close sometimes.

I had this happen to me on more than one occasion (I'm sorry to admit) and once I put some gas in the tank I didn't have to do anything else, not even turn the key for a few seconds.

Now I also had problems with the fuel pump and at that time I did have to pour some gas into the carb.

Thank you for your response. With most of today's cars, they don't have carburetors any more, they are electronically fuel injected. My vehicle is electronically fuel injected it and I don't need a reminder to fill the tank, I need some kind of notice that says "Hey dipsh-t, you drive another mile and you'll be out for sure, so quit playing around!"
