How do you start a conversation with a girl that is very very shy?

You can ask her the phone number to start a conversation with the girl on phone. At least this will give her courage to speak and say some staffs that she could not have the courage of saying in person. Tame her and from there I think she will now have the courage of talking to you face to face.

I agree with mmakennab, don't be overbearing. Don't be too pushy. Just start a casual conversation. Nothing too personal, at least no too soon. Let her know you would like to be her friend.

Say hi to her and ask her if she wants to hang out. I am a shy girl as well. I would like someone talking to me. Its sad being shy. You should make her company.

be sweet and nice and DONT be hard if you wanna hold hands. not like a CLUMP just a soft touch. im a shy boy that does not like to go in front of the class and dog. i need to go to a program where i practice reading to a dog or a cat lol

talk to her, dont be sarcastic in any way, just make her feel comfortable around you. Start it with something like "Hey. Have we met? One of my friends said you were really shy. You don't seem it :)"

Be assertive and don't give up. Just making sure you pay attention to the conversation, she will notice it!
