Create picture slide shows for Dreamweaver?

I need to make a website using Dreamweaver for school. I made a .swf on flash with just a set of pictures put together but when I placed it on the template, it wouldn't play.
Is someone able to tell me how to and on what program to use to create a self-running picture slideshow which can be placed on a Dreamweaver template of which plays on its own?

You can use Adobe Image Ready, it will create slide shows and animations that are fully contained in one file as a animated gif.
