Writing off your husband is not the only solution; you ought to be aware that you are entitled to collecting the social security fund on your husbands account even if you decouple or divorce. This applies for as long as you were married for more than ten years. Seek advice from a divorce lawyer on the way forward.

we have been divorced for 12 yrs, an he remarried an div they were only married 7yrs and i remarried an div only married 3 yrs, i am only 53 on ssdisability in which i do not draw much and i get a small ck for ssi because of my income level i did not know if i have to wait till i am 62 or can draw it now but with sons income he is going to be getting makes me llose what i do get help with, he wil only draw it for a year but his dad is giving him a debt card for him only, an i can not touch it his dad said but it counts as income comming into my home, it has messed me up all the way around because i can not afford my rent since they r going to take me off of assistance, an he is ADHD, but his dad does not realize he does not know how to take care of stuff an he is in special education classes an takes meds since he has been 5 yrs old, an i have been the one toraise all 4 kids, the other 3 have went to colledge an live on their own, there dad never bought them a birthday present nor christmas an would not take on his visitation in which i told him he could visit with them any time he wanted, but since kids are grown an son was 14 he came an started doing things with him, but he is old enough now to do for hisself but i thank god formy kids, i never allowed anyone at my home if i dated i would meet them somewhere an they have never seen alcohol in house, but their dad is a alcoholic that is his life it is up to kids i always told them no matter what they were to respect their dad but he never put it for me, that is ok, i have made it raising them an happy to say they were good kids never got into trouble, but ii said never say never you never know but he tells them that they can do what ever they want nor responsibility, and i asked my son if he wanted to live with his dad an he said no, i od not want him too, but would not stop him, but it would be one of the saddestday but his dad is waving this money for him to have,

My understanding is that if you were married more than 10 years you can draw. I don't know the other criteria.
