Is ADHD a learning disability?

I do have it, and I think that it can make me unable to focus, but would collages consider it a learning disability?

Report as

Yes, although ADHD and learning disabilities occur together pretty often, they are not a pair.

I wouldn't say that exactly. Due to the fact I have ADHD and my grades are amazing. I think it's ADHD and something else together that would make it a learning disability. Not ADHD alone.

Of course, one would have lots of trouble reading and focusing.

Well, yes, sort of, but not a very BIG one. It's not that you have the inability to focus, it's that you have DIFFICULTY focusing on things (more difficult then people without ADHD), especially things that don't interest you. I have ADD (technically ADHD but I'm not at all hyperactive) and my grades are fine! However, I do often find that while I do my homework I need to pace around, it's the same when I write even if I'm writing for pleasure. My counselor says there are upsides to ADHD, for one thing many people with ADHD are very creative.

it's kind of a learning disability, not a particularly drastic one though.

No, Learning Disability eligibility is a neurological disorder. ADHD is more behavior that may interfere with learning.

Although ADHD is eligible under 504 it's not a learning disability.

No, ADHD is a behavioral disorder. Intact, kids with ADD often have higher IQ's and better grades then their non-hyperactive counter parts. If you feel it is getting in the way of your school work, talk to your parents about getting on medication. Often it takes until you are older to learn to manage the symptoms (and even then it's never 100%)
