It is a stage which girls have to go through like the stages in puberty. It is part of the changes that take place in the body of a girl and it is also a part of the reproductive cycle too. The cramps are caused by a chemical in the body which makes the uterus contract. You can get more information on this at http://kidshealth.org/kid/grow/girlstuff/period_cramps.html.

The cramps is the feeling you get when your body is "practicing" for the day you have to push out a baby. even if your not pregnant or ever pregnant you still have them. as for the period its just a natural thing that all girls have to clean out theyre reproductive insides!
