round pizza box would make it very difficult to get the round pizza out of the box. Even if the box was bigger than the pizza all pizzas are not perfectly round. Also it is very difficult to make a round box. It is much quicker and easier to make a box square rather than round. Because you have to fold the boxes there for it would be to hard to fold a round box. and there cut in triangles because its the easiest way to divide it up in the correct amount of slices.. This is coming from the girl that worked at Mazzio's pizza for 3 years.
Because square boxes are easier, cheaper and more stackable and the people making the pizza don't have to put them together. Plus, all pizzas fit in them. They could come in any shape at all. It's just that when working out a lump of dough a circle is the natural way to go. All the rest is simply tradition. And every piece is a triangle so they would be equal in size.... I guess?
exactly what nadiaabuhatab said and it would be impossible to cut the pizza slices into circles to match it all up sometimes ive seen square pizzas that have been cut into squares so it all matched up but that was a while ago
Square box: no waste of material, protects the pizza inside from being crushed.
Round pizza: during the process of making the pizza, the dough is usually tossed in the air and spun, creating a circular shape.
Triangular pieces: the only way to slice a circle evenly WITHOUT wasting material (or food, in this case) is to cut it into triangles.
Still don't understand why people can't understand that process.
Now, they do make rectangular pizzas that have square slices (Pizza Hut currently has their $10 meal deal with 10 breadsticks and cinnasticks all packed into a big rectangular box with the pizza and dipping sauces).
