How old do you have to be to join a gym or planet fittness,im 15?

not sure, but im 14 and i go with my older brother to the gym, cause he has a contract there, so i tag along with him and lift weights with him when he goes

Most memberships require you to sign an agreement and make payments. Unless you are 18 or older it is illegal for you to sign a contract.

True but some gyms have a contract where one of the parents signs WITH the child.

The parent(s) would have the contract and a family plan which would allow their children to use the gym. The contract may specify that people under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

In some gyms you can sign up with one of your parents and signing the contract with you. It depends on what gym and where it is located. I live in cali and all of the gyms near me allow teens to go starting 15 and up. Once there are sixteen they can go without an adult accompanying them.
