What do I do about a new battery for my 18 volt drill that burned up and now I have to have a new charger too ? Dewalt

I bought 2 new batteries last fall at Home Depot, and this is the first time I tried to charge this battery. I left it for about 3 hours, came home to hot smeling battery, it was so hot I couldn't touch it for over an hour. Lucky it was on the tile floor.

I think if the warranty is still active, you can take them back to the dealer and they will exchange them for you. It is very dangerous when you charge a battery that burns up as it can expose the chemicals which can be fatal if consumed accidentally.
