Why did European armies travel to Jerusalem to defeat Muslim armies?

What ideas and goods did the European soldiers bring back from the East after the Crusades?

Religion and Empire. The Christian religion of Europe claimed Divine Right to Rule and by that also claimed a right to rule the Holy Lands which were once ruled by the Roman Empire. And ever since the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe has periodically attempted a divinely-claimed resurrection of the Roman Empire right up to the end of World War II.

And as long as there exist European monarchies, vestiges of the Roman Empire's aspirations with claims to Divine Right to Rule persist.

The Holy Lands were governed by Muslims since the 7th Century. Calif Omar signed a treaty with the municipality of Jerusalem to be its ruler instead of Rome, and the Crusaders just weren't having any of that if they could help it.

Thank you. :) It's a topic I studied in great detail, and it's also a topic that has a lot of disinformation attached to it. If it weren't for the Crusades bringing back Arabic culture, we wouldn't have Free Masons wearing fezes using fake Arabic names for their local organizations and we certainly would have never heard of chivalry, not even via King Arthur.

You seem to have been the victim of Islamic propaganda. Islam has brought nothing good to any part of the world. There were several Arabic nations that were fairly advanced. Some that could compete with European nations in their technology. Unfortunately, all that was lost when they fell under Islamic rule. Think about it. If Islam had advanced any nation it ruled over, countries under the rule of Islam today, would not be third world countries. Islam suppresses knowledge and technology.

What I am is NOT a victim of Christian propaganda, which is what you've posted here, Michael. Actual history of record is as I have presented it. Yours is a fantasy Christians want people to swallow. No sale.

No problem. I know quite a few people who prefer revisionist history over fact. Have fun with that.

The crusades were started because of the nearly two hundred years of Muslim occupation and oppression of Spain, France and other parts of Europe.

Muslims didn't oppress Spain or any other part of Europe. You just spouted history written by the (sore) loser.

You need to study history a little closer. Islam is extremely oppressive for anyone who is not Muslim. And yes, many parts of Europe were oppressed by Muslim invaders.

Wrong. If it weren't for the Muslims, there'd be no Christian Europe because they would have all died from the plagues that ravaged Europe. I've studied actual history; you, on the other hand, apparently studied Christian propaganda.
