You ask for the truth and I shall reveil. You can not always beleive what you've read on the internet. I love Hip Hop to the fullest. I have done my research. Wendy Clark aka Lady B is not the first female rapper to hit the scene in 1979. Sha-Rock is the first female rapper. She was a b-girl in 1976 in the Bronx, New York and In 1977 she became the first female rapper and the first female rapper to be apart of a all male hip hop group wich was called the Funky 4. There were 3 guys and Sha-Rock. Let me clarify that so you won't be confused. Sha-Rock was a emcee who was doing chiphers in the parks with other male emcees back then. Wendy Clark aka Lady B was a DJ on a Philadelphia radio station who decided to record a rap record. Sha-Rock was already emceeing. In 1979 both Wendy Clark and Sha-Rock recorded a rap song. So technically Lady B she was the first female soloist to record a rap song. Sha-Rock recorded a song with her group Rapping and Rocking the house the same year. for more information, google sha-rock or the group Funky 4.

MC Sha-Rock is the first female rapper. I attend college in Syracuse, New York and was told by some of my classmates that MC Sha-Rock was at Cornell University two weeks ago. They were excited about viewing a video of her in 1977 of her rhyming on stage with the other band members. Thumbs up to you MC Sha-Rock, I am now educated.
