And while you run, increase and decrease the intensity of your run. Running at the same pace time after time conditions your body to the running and you stop gaining the benefits. Here is a random website that talks about interval running. http://www.best-running-tips.com/interval-running.html
And aside from running, any other sort of cardio workouts will give you the same benefits as running as long as you vary the workouts. Just search for cardio workouts and you will find tons of stuff. The whole point of cardio is to get your heart rate up to a point to where it burns calories. And I believe that you need at least 30 min of good cardio workout for it to be effective. I could be off on the exact time.
Practice every move until it becomes automatic. Practice so you can play through exhaustion and not run out of breath. Eat a healthy diet, cut out or cut down on sweets, fast food; add vegetables (lots) and fruits (some). See if your coach has a training table and follow that.
losing weight isnt just about exercise. ive lost almost 30 lbs in 3 weeks and i hardly exercise. your liver has 2 jobs processing foods and burning fat. the less time it spends on the first the more time it has for the second. so foods that break down easier (whole foods i.e. like meat eggs veggies fruits etc.) the more time it spends burning fat. also insulin signals your body to store fat. carbs (even whole grains albeit less dramatically) and sweets raise your insulin levels which no amount of exercise can lower. also certain foods increase your metabolism speeding up the weight loss process
