It all depends on who you are talking to and by what criteria you are measuring to decide the best movie ever made. The debate rages on! The American Film Institute lists Lawrence of Arabia as the best epic movie, while The Godfather takes the honors for gangster movie. They list the top western as The Searchers with John Wayne. Factor in that the list changes every year because of new additions and new thoughts.
