After his stint as Mark McCain on The Rifleman, costarring with Chuck Connors, Johnny Crawford went on to do music and more film. He won an Emmy for his role, and it became a springboard for a recording career as a teenage heart throb. He had Top 40 hits in 1962 & 1963. Johnny served in the Army for 2 years, and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked on training films while in the service, as an assistant director, production coordinator, script supevisor, and actor. Johnny attended the University of Southern California where he produced a short film that won an Academy Award (Oscar) in 1971. He has appeared in numerous films, and television. He connected with his high school sweatheart, Charlotte, whom he married in 1995. Johnny now leads the Johnny Crawford Orchestra, which he started in 1992. They specialize in vintage dance music. They recently released an album, titled "Sweepin' the Clouds Away, in 2008.
