Corn was believed to be man made 7000 years ago by residents who lived in Central Mexico. It was started from a wild grass named Teosinte, which looks very different from our corn today. The kernels were small and not placed closely like kernels on the husked ear of the modern corn.
Corn comes from the early plant found in Central America, by the name teosnite. Its cobs were approximately 2.5 inches. Corn was domesticated, changing its structure and behavior, modern corn cobs are approximately 10 inches.
