I work at a restaurant in California. Does anyone know if "marrying" is legal or not?

Report as

"Marrying" refers to mixing, example: taking unused catsup from two bottles and condensing onto one. I don't think the board of health would approve, i don't know if it's " illegal" but I hear it's done, often.

Bubbs, how exactly did you know this term? I wish you could have seen the utter look of confusion on my face while I was trying to make sense of this question. Now that I know what it means, I am glad that I answered!! I learned something today :)

Me too, Bubblious! I had no idea what this was about. I'm so glad you saw the question.

I first heard it from a friend, we were at a picnic, cleaning up afterward, and she took the condiment bowls and started " marrying". I believe it's restaurant terminology. Btw, we were in Cali. : ))

I am SO confused by your question, and I believe that it is nonsense, BUT, maybe there is something here, so I am not going to flag it, I'm sure someone else will :) WELL, with the new light that Bubbs has shed on this subject-Thanks Bubbs!!- I can't see how it's illegal. People just don't seem to understand that there are all sorts of nasty things that go on in the restaurant industry, on my list of concerns, "Marrying" is dead last!!

It might be a term exclusive to Cali, which is my ( second homeland) : )) that's why you probably never heard the term. Wonder what happens when you return food? Eeewww scary huh?

I love watching the movie "Waiting" :) YOU DO NOT F**K WITH THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOUR FOOD!!!!

Omg! That movie makes me nauseous, especially the part where he throws the food on the ground!

Would you like some extra garlic salt? Maybe some gravy? How about more garnish on there for ya? The Bat Wing, see how it looks translucent and veiny like a bat wing? Go home and play with your s**t and see if you can come up with something new :)

If you are marrying two items that taste good and are not harmful it's fine. However, you would be advised not to get into marrying things that you may not know the interaction.
