There are 30 Major League Baseball teams, 16 in the National League and 14 in the American League. In 1994, Commisioner Bud Selig, changed the structure of divisions in each league, from 2 divisions ( east and west ) to 3. As a result, the Milwaukie Brewers were moved from the American League to the National League, creating the uneven number of teams in each League.
