There are numerous reasons why you may be craving sweets ranging from psychological needs to physiological needs. Here are three reasons why you may be craving sweets. If you are currently on a diet and have replaced a lot of your foods with sugar-free labels, they most likely contain artificial sweeteners. Research has shown that these artificial sweeteners such as Splenda and aspartame actually cause you to crave real sugar. Another reason why you may be craving sweets is because you use sweets as a remedy to sadness or to improve your happiness. It is common to see college students grab a chocolate bar when they are stressed during finals! Lastly, if you are female, you simply may be in that point of your menstrual cycle where your body begins to crave sweets! Whatever your reason is for craving sweets, dig in and enjoy yourself (in moderate proportions, of course). Life is too short to deprive yourself of their goodness!
