The Mona Lisa was actually started by Leonardo Da Vinci in Italy. He started the painting in 1503 and finished it in 1506. There is some controversy around where he was at the time the painting was finishes. Some experts say he was in Rome while others will argue Milan. Either way, we ended up with one of the most infamous paintings of all time.
