First off, the Number of Electrons = Number of Protons = Atomic Number, which means carbon has 6 electrons and 6 protons since its atomic number is 6. Number of Neutrons = Mass Number - Atomic Number, meaning for carbon 12, it is 12-6, which is 6. Check out more on this from www.edinformatics.com/math_science/c_atom.htm.
