Why don't you notice people walk by when you're watching a movie?

likee if you're watching a movieee annd you're really into it or whatever and someone leaves the room you don't notice , but after a while you're like 'hey where'd they go ?' xD and theyy come back and theyre like i went to go potty or something q:

I think we do notice. When someone walks by and our mind is preoccupied by something else, whether its movies or other things, the brain fails to record it. It obvious that you notice the person in the corner of your eye but because you are watching a movie, your brain focuses on the plot of the movie and then you actually forget about the person ever going by.
