and me and my crush are pretty close friends and what would happen if he doesn't like me back?

If he doesn't like you back do not despair but make yourself available for him in case he changes his mind. Otherwise you will have to accept and respect his decision and try to move on. Bear in mind that you can always meet somebody else who could turn out to be your prince charming.
