What did I do to my ankle? Everytime I walk I get a shooting pain up my calf and ankle. I can barely walk or put pressure on it. It hurts!

I ran track & I was jumping on it for cheerleading cause I had tryouts today. but it hurts so bad. There's not really any discoloration. Its like a burning shooting pain. could I have fractured something?

You need to have it looked at if it continues for 24 hours, it could just be muscle pain, it could be a torn ligament or tendon or it could be a greenstick or spiral fracture.

It's been 3 days...

You should probably get it looked at then, because most muscle damage would be healing by now.

Oh jeeze... Alright. I'm getting a doctors app Monday. Could it be serious?
Report as
Probably not, you might have to sit out part of a season to let it heal though.

Ahh:/ alright. What do you think they'll do for it? I know my friend in track sprained his ankle and now he's in a boot & on crutches...

Depends on what is wrong, treatment vary alot for the things that can go wrong in your ankles/lower legs. Just wrapping and hot soaks all the way to surgery to reattach ligaments or fuse a bone. Odds are good that it's fairly miner and is just something that you need expert advice on fixing and maybe some meds to help with the pain. Let me know if you're okay after you see the doc. I often wonder about how people are after I speak to them

I will let you know. & thank you!

It's severely sprained & I got X-rays. I don't know if anything is fractured yet.

Ouch, hoping it's not, get well soon and take care :)

It seems like you either moved or ripped part of a tendon. Just seems like it I am not a doctor I would get it looked at

Sounds like "shin splints." I used to get them all the time when I did track. Take ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin or naproxen/Alleve according to the bottle's dosage, to reduce the internal inflammation and help with the pain. When you are home, keep your foot elevated (like on a footstool), and ice the affected areas-- fifteen minutes on, fifteen minutes off, repeat until bedtime. MayoClinic's site describes the symptoms, preventative measures, and treatments in more detail-- http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/shin-splints/DS00271/DSECTION=symptoms :) Keep an eye on the area-- if you can't move your ankle or there is *severe* swelling, go to your doctor to get it checked out-- but unless it's broken there isn't much a doctor can do, and you'd know if it were broken! Best of luck with cheerleading and track, and I hope you feel better soon! <3

Doctor, ASAP! We can't really tell you what's going on with your leg--we don't have diagnostic imaging equipment to find that out!
