It is really hard to tell where the cameras would be hidden in a motel since they don't give out such information to the public. They mostly go for areas where people will rarely notice since it is supposed to be something not easy to find.
In the United States Constitution they cannot have a camera in your motel room without warning you. first it's disobeying the (right of privacy) of american citizens. also if you need to look for a camera for evidence that shall be hidden without consent from a fellow officer you should look in random places you wouldn't look for places with strange marks on them.
Check: Tissue boxes Under the bed Under the tables In cabinets Inside dressers Inside a closet In a lamp shade Behind curtains Behind a wall painting PS if you find anything do not hesitate to report it to the police. This is illegal and very serious! -Moe

Wear gloves before you begin checking your room to avoid leaving your fingerprints. Also look at the smoke alarm, Yes there are cameras disguised as smoke alarms. Another place to check is the heating and air conditioning units and/or ducts, A camera can be easily be placed there. Check everything! It's unreal how cameras are being disguised to be something else. Very important, If you find a camera in your room, DO NOT touch the unit or any part of the place it was hidden because you DON'T want your fingerprints in the vicinity of the camera found.which could mess up police investigation and also should you decide to sue the motel, Your fingerprints can severely hurt your case. If you find a camera, Take pictures of the following, The camera itself, The room the camera is in, The room number The overall view of the motel premises, The sign that displays the name of the motel. This is important evidence to build your case. After taking pictures, Then call the police. Once again DO NOT TOUCH the camera or the place where the camera was found. Don't leave your fingerprints. If you do, You put yourself at risk of being framed for the crime!
