What do you guys think is the most racist state in the US I live in Iowa and there are some pretty racist people.

Unfortunately every state has pockets of racist bigotry. In some states its more against the african community while in others, Arizona, its against hispanics - i think thats my answer, Arizona. After all its their entire state government who have made it legal for their police force to commit big time racial profiling. They have the right to stop any person of hispanic heritage and demand ID just because they think they look 'suspicious'. Hmmm how many ways can THAT right be abused....?

State sponsored bigotry much like the Nazis did to the Jews in the early days of Hitlers reign. I call that the most biggoted.

Most guys think Georgia is the most racist state in the US. Racism in the United States has been a main issue since the colonial epoch and the slave period. Many people in the U.S. will continue to have some discrimination against other races.

All states are racist. Especially the ones in the deep south.

Oooo now THATS biggotry and stereotyping all in one answer. Have you spent a whole lot of time in the south to know that they are any more biggoted than, say Oklahoma which is a midwestern state that has a white supremist/survivalist militia group emcamped somewhere in its center region, or Arizona which has basically made bigotry tolerable by state mandate, or Kansas which is a northern state and has hate groups like the Westboro 'Baptist Church' as they call themselves. Or do you just listen to and absorb ignorant, out of date, gossipy stereotypes you hear from others.

I never experienced racism until I moved from Texas to Colorado, a northern state.

I live in Iowa too. There definitely are racist individuals here. No doubt. But I'm older, I've travelled, lived other places and I promise you, Iowans on the whole are unbelievably colorblind compared to much of our country. Scary, isn't it? I'm white, I know how white people talk when they "think" no body will take offense. Sometimes it feels like we as a country are moving backward. Non whites and women are being marginalized again.

It's been very hard being a black woman in stupid Colorado. I came from Texas and was Called "N" for the first time within weeks of living here.

That is so offensive. It seems in the current political climate some people think they have more freedom to go off on their racist rants. It's not ok with me. I hope more decent people will stand up to that kind of ignorant, hateful behavior.
