What is my kids' snail doing? please read description :D

apparently the snails were breeding the other day and now one is kinda sealing itself inside it's shell. is it pregnant? I know they are hermaphordite and usually lay eggs in soil, they don't have soil.....

The snail is just hibernating and the sealing of the shell is a preventive measure to protect it from drying out. The snail eggs are usually fertilized in the receptaculum seminis, where the male sperm is stored after mating. A male sperm can be stored for more than a month and they fertilize several eggs. i had a snail and the person who had sold it to me told me about this situation if im right you need to buy a bigger shell and place it near the one with the snail in it so the snail can move in to a bigger shell ..
