Sanitation workers make a reasonable salary and in order to perform his job he is probably a hard worker (it's tough lifting stuff all day). I see nothing wrong with someone who works hard to make a living; it probably means he works hard in other aspects of his life.
If you're a materialistic snob, then I guess not. But to me, there are more important things than what career a person has. I wouldn't care if he was a garbage man or a plumber, if I love someone, I love them.
