Is it against the law to leave a 17 1/2 year old home alone over night?

We are going out of town for a night and I trust my daughter to not have a party or anything. Just want to make sure it's not against the law. I am in MN if that matters.

The fact you ask suggests to me that you truly care about your child. I imagine you pay attention to them. Too bad there aren't more parents like you. Me; I stayed home alone from the age of eleven. Its really up to you and your level of trust of the child.

No, it is not illegal. If you think she is mature enough to trust overnight. Only you can decide that. In most states I think it is legal for anyone over 14 to take care of themselves for a short time. If they are legal to have a babysitting job, they should be able to care for themselves as well.

No...? That's almost an adult and in a lot of states 17 is the age of consent.
