wat do you mean? just some ideas for short stories? If that is the case, well, you could write about dogs, cancer, war, zombie apocalypse (just cuz u mentioned zombies), love with difficulties (e.g., race, religion difference, and if ur a fantasy person you can write about two different species (e.g., vampires/human, werewolves/human, fairy/human, or you could write about 2 different (just an example) wizards but they specialize in two different kinds of magic so they can't be together. If this is for fun, go read a few books (or read the back and skim through) about something that is your kind of genre. Then just mix the story lines. Like if one book was about a girl trying to figure out her new powers and another book was about 2 people who hated each other, and then fell in love, then you could write about a girl (or guy) that has learned they have special powers (like harry potter finding out he was a wizard.) and then learns they have a mortal enemy but by the end of the book, they fall in love.
Short stories for school: safer to stick with an easy subject such as losing a pet.
Write about 2 characters ( girl and boy) going on an adventure to a forbidden land to retrieve something which was stolen from them, and along the way have them meet certain challenges in which they must show teamwork, trust, and daring acts to get past, and eventually, turn it into a romance (optional) and in the end they must either sacrifice one or the other to get the item, or go without it and fail who sent them on a quest. Hope this helps! ~Bananagirl
