Need a stronger dose of Adderall XR 20mg. How to ask my DR without seeming like a drug seeker?

I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD. My Dr. prescribed Adderall ER 20 mg. It's helping a bit, but feel I could use a stronger dose. How do I ask for that without my Dr. thinking I'm looking for "heavier" drugs? This is truly not the case!

Tell your doctor the truth next time you see him. Also, the dosage is small at first. You cannot just take a higher dose. You have to increase gradually. Your doctor will ask you about the medication next time you see himm/her anyway.

No, tell the doctor the truth, always. If it isn't normal, the doctor would take you off or may increase more than you need. Seriously, the doctor knows what he/she is doing. They went to medical school and specialized.

not where i live they refuse to give out drugs even if its required due to restrictions based on the amount that a doctor can prescribe

Where is that? They refuse to give medicine to people who really need it, not people who want it? So if a child had scarlet fever they wouldn't prescribe antibiotics. They would just let the child die? I find that difficult to believe, unless the medication actually isn't there.

See if you can get 2 10 mg instant release a day first so you don't seem like you have drug abuse potential.say it's not working like it used to because you can build a tolerance to amphetamines

Well I know that you should set up an appointment to talk to your doctor about the problem your having also it can be an addictive drug so he/she might not want to give you more if he/she doesn't think you really needed.

You just say it helps but soon wears off. After so long your body adjusts to the dose. I always talk to my dr straight up. When I need my pain meds adjusted he does up them. Usually once a year

Just explain to your doctor what's going on at your next med check they have these every few months for a reason and with adderall you should have a med check every month for about 6 months then every 3 months due to the side effects

Tell ur dr. What u need and tell him why. Saying no never killed anyone and he/she knows already if u were onto drugs. I was in a serious accident and I take morphine and I told my dr. It doesn't work. So I think u can. Lol
