What's the best beach to hang around in California?

My mom was like this the other day:"Hon,there's plenty of beautiful beaches in Cali and when we have the money of it,we could go there and relax and hang out there,etc.She never visited Cali or went there before but her customers/co-workers at work says:"California is really beautiful!Especially the beaches!"
