One of my jobs requires me to be on my feet a lot too. I wear good, supportive shoes and good socks with extra cushioning. This job allows me to move around a lot, but when I was working where I had to stand in one place a lot, I also wore support hose. If you're a guy, as I'm guessing from your name and avatar, you might want to try compression hose which go up only to the knee. Not the most attractive, but they can really help.

Do yourself the most good by using a gravity inversion table As soon as you get home. Sports equipment stores usually carry them. plus the good shoes. There is a line of insoles that actually work called "Superfeet".

I work at a Warehouse and the single best thing I did was buy Gel Inserts. They made my feet feel so comfortable and removed the soreness that I would get when I got home. I used to dread taking my boots off, my feet were sore and hot. Now, when I move boxes, I feel like I'm walking on a beach.

I work 12 (sometimes more) hours a day at a restaurant assembling sandwiches. What I found that worked best for me was eating a banana (for the shin cramps) and replacing my shoe's insoles with blue camp foam from a sporting goods store.
