You will be able to get apps on your iPod that you cannot get now. And, it will release apple's iron grip on your iPod.

My bro did that once we couldn't get it to work and it took like three days to get it working and he never jail broke it again

It will get 1% slower. But only if you install allot of jailbreak tweaks.

Sometimes it can get a virus if you click on the wrong thing after it is jail broke... My cousin did it and nothing bad happened yet.!!
