What is this movie?

I think it takes place in a hotel. This guy has a book that shows him all the dead/zombified people. There was this one part when this little boy was a tricycle looking down a hallway. I don't know what this movie is called!!

They made more than one. I like the first on with Jack Nicholson.

They made a remake I think around 2010 or 2011 with Steven Weber and Rebecca De Mornay. I'm a Jack Nicholas fan, so my answer was, a little bias. And I do admit that I never watched the remake all the way through, but I guess I should've. Next time it's on I'll watch it all to check out the graphics. Mahalo (:
