Can some earthquakes knock people off their feet if they are standing?

I am doing research on earthquakes. Can you guys help me?

They can knock buildings off their foundations. So, yes, sports fan, that can knock you on your butt.

Some earthquakes can knock people off their feet if they are standing. This depends on the intensity of the sudden motions and how long the impact lasts. Earthquakes occur when Earth plates, which are constantly in a dynamic state, pull away from or grind past each other releasing the energy in form of earth tremors.
