I don't know how bad your swelling is but when I got hit under my eye by a flying surfboard the dr had to lance it and drain the blood. He said you shouldn't take chances with any kind of hit to the head. Said I could've lost my eyesight. So if it's big you better go get it checked out.
Apart from putting ice on your eye, you can get rid of swelling by taking anti-inflammatory drugs, which will help reduce the swelling and pain. You should also try to have your head above the level of your heart, which allows fluids to drain from your face.
Put the ice in a plastic baggie or paper towels or something. Something needs to be between your skin and the ice. Keep the ice on for 20 minutes. Then take it off for another 20. Repeat this process until the swelling is gone.
