What's a good friendly dog?

I was thinking of getting a new dog that has personalities somewhat similar to my boxer...short coat, playful, loyal. I would like a dog a little smaller cause i want to try something different. My parents don't want a loud dog though. I have a 5-year old brother, a 9-year old sister, and another 12-year old sister. And of course this dog has to be cute.

German Pinshcer (in my profile pic). They predate both Dobermans and Min Pins, and are the origin of both breeds. They are very loyal, energetic, protective but not aggressive. The link below is to my breeders site. She has tons of info on the breed. They are rare, but truly great dogs. I have always loved the Boxer breed and I think that the two would be very compatible. You may have to pay a bit more for one, but it is so worth it. I have a 2 and 3 year old and she is great with them. I also have a Min Pin, and the two have become great companions. Size wise, they are smaller than a boxer, 20-40 lbs full grown. Look into it, do some research. My breeder is happy to talk to anyone all day about the breed and has worked with numerous different breeds over the years. Her dogs have been added to families all over the world. There is even one serving in Afganistan, or was, not sure if he is still there. Either way, great dogs, worth the look.

Your welcome. Thank you :) She is still in the bratty teenage stage, but a great dog all around. Going to make a great companion for years to come.

You dont say?

Yes, she is excellent. I know other dogs who came from the same breeder and they are great. She only breeds dogs with good breed qualities, and even temperaments.

Pitbulls are great loving and affectionate dogs unless u make them mean most the time u see them on tv but were mistreated by their owners

thanks...i guess lol :)

they are really great dogs. When they were originally bred, they were designed as babysitters for rich families in England and other countries, as they usually have very good temperament and are super loyal and pretty tolerant. It was when they were brought to the US and were absorbed into lower class cultures that prized them for their other traits did it become such an issue with 'scary pitbulls'. Typically they are resilient dogs, and if you get one from a good breeder, or someone who works for the dog's sake, then you should get a wonderful animal.

Your boxer on your avatar is adorable! I have boxers as well. Many dogs cannot handle the boxers rough style of play. I would contact your local shelter and tell then what you are looking for and what your family situation is. Many shelters will match dogs to families because they don't want the dog back. Or contact a boxer rescue and see if they have a boxer mix that is on the smaller side.
