How can I tell if my sickness is just a cold or allergies?

I thought I caught my sickness from this other sick girl, but it turns out hers was allergies, so I don't know. I don't have any allergies that I know of...

The only way to tell if your sickness is just a cold or allergies is that if it is cold, the symptoms of running nose, coughing and sneezing will go away after a few days. If it is an allergy, symptoms will stick even after medication, as long as you are around your friend who you think infected you.
