What would cause my Gateway NV52 screen to go black but is still backlit?

I recently went though a lot of trouble to get my computer running. I got a virus that caused my computer to completely shut down. I couldn't even reinstall windows it was giving me blue screen errors. I took it to Best Buy and bought the recovery discs from Gateway of which neither could fix. As a last ditch effort I took it to a local computer shop who used a Windows 7 disc with my COA. At first it appeared to be working fine then it started to periodically go to a black screen with no apparent reason or cause. The screen is still lit but pushing any buttons on the keyboard it does not respond but when I restart (cold boot) it will continue to work fine for a while. Took it back to repair place and after running it for a weekend they did not get a black screen at all. Still having this issue even after disconnecting the peripherals and uninstalling new programs.

have someone check the wiring from the monitor to the mother, cuz the wires sometimes pop out and are not in properly.

if that doesn't work, might be a hardware problem, have a hardware test done and see the results, when your computer boots up see if it has a hardware test option on the bios.

if it turns out to be a screen, buy a screen and pay some one to replace it.

I think the problem is with the backlight. It might be old and needing a replacement. All you have to do is buy a new one. If the problem persist you would be better off buying a new computer. For more information, go to http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/nv/nv52/NV52nv.shtml
