An infection in the middle ear or what is commonly known as Chronic Inflammation can make you hear your pulse in your ear. Dysfunction of the Eustachian-tube or a Middle-ear effusion can also make you hear your pulse in the ear, and so can venous hum. Only by treatment of the underlying cause can the pulsating subside or go away completely. See www.ivillage.com/what-causes-sound-your-pulse-your-ears/4-n-142274 for more on this.

This could be something serious. It could be high blood pressure or worse. You could have narrowing of the blood vessels going to your brain. Left untreated this could lead to a stroke. I have no idea how old you are but especially if you are an adult and this is something new, I would check with your health care provider.
