WHY, no matter how i sit my coffeecup in the microwave to reheat my coffee, the handle is always facing to the rear when it goes beep-beep?!

This is silly but I did an experiment because I used to wonder the same. Only at ten second intervals will your cup's handle be facing you when the microwave beeps. If your cup is in the wave for 50 seconds, the handle will be outward; at 55 seconds it will be facing away from you. Of course, you have to place the cup handle-out to achieve the results I have. Are we boring or *what*?

That's how the microwave works, and how you are positioning the cup when you put it in. If you are annoyed by it, you can position the handle in a different position. If you are right-handed, as most people are, chances are, you position the cup's handle towards the right. In this case, turn the handle to the left to make it point towards you. It would be the opposite, if you are left-handed.

stb, I make a lot of home brewed iced tea; I use a 4-cup container. I did *not* want to dump 4 cups of boiling water on myself because I was reaching in for the handle-- that is why I did my experiment. I put the container handle-out and as long as the time on the microwave is in "10's", my handle will be outward. One minute and ten seconds, or 8 minutes even, whatever...but never at 8:05 minutes/seconds etc. Hope that makes sense. Glad others have experienced this annoying problem. No more cold coffee for you, my friend!

An answer a year later is sometimes worth waiting for.
The reason your handle always rotates to the back is a law of science... The same one that causes a piece of toast to hit the floor jelly side down. That is unless you strap a cat to it.

It HAS been worth waiting for! Thank you!! I guess if worrying about where my coffee cup's handle stops is my biggest issue, I'm doing just fine!! The coffee taste just as good! Lol...:-)

On my microwave, i set it at 2:22 and my water is hot and the handle is facing me. Play with it, experiment.
