If you have a brita water bottle with the filter in it, if you put river water or lake water in it will it be fine to drink?

The water will be clean but not fine for drinking, because the filter in the Brita water bottle will only sieve particles but will not purify the water. The river water must first be disinfected before you take it because the micro-organisms are still active.

That type of filter does not filter out bacteria

Doesn't filter microorganisms
