My iPhone 4 keeps shutting off... what should I do?

My iPhone 4 is about a year old and just within the last week I have been having major problems with it.
It turns off for no reason at all and then sometimes while Im using it... it slows down, the screen changes color and then shuts off and then I can't turn it on for quite a while!!!
I have made sure that I have the most up to date software and have even done a phone restore on it but it continues to have the same problems!
Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near an apple store!

Any suggestions what might be wrong or what I could try to fix it?

A failing battery and overloaded applications are some of the reasons, which can make an iPhone to keep shutting off. I would suggest you free some of the memory space in it, power it off and back on. If the problem this still happens, you may take it to a repair shop.

Its definitely not overloaded apps... I only have about 30 apps!
I guess it could be a battery problem... would that still happen if it said my battery was charged?
