What can I do to occupy 2 year olds in a classroom while I change diapers. They go crazy when I am changing other kids diapers. HELP!
I just started working at a day care in the 2 year old classroom. This is new to me because I am a certified elementary school teacher (NOT day care ages!). I have a really hard time keeping control of the class when it is time to go through changing everyone's diaper. I give them an activity and, as soon as they see I am changing a diaper, the "challenging" ones go nuts and tear up the room. Due to standards, I am not allowed to leave a child unattended on the changing table. So, before I can get the diaper changed, they have gone crazy and it is impossible to contain them for the rest of the day. Does anyone have any suggestions? Like I said, I give them an activity to do (coloring, play dough, cutting, or centers) and they just will not comply. It is becoming very stressful and I am at my wits end. I am not sure how much longer I can take this.
